James Edward Dimon was born in San Pedro, California on 4-3-63 and died on 9-26-19 at 56 years of age. He was in the U.S. Army from 1981-1984 and was an I.L.W.U. member for the last 20 years. Dimon was extremely involved in his community and a key community advocate. He played Santa at Christmastime, he was a part of the local youth sailing program, member of the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club, board of directors for Fisher House, officer of the San Pedro Elks Lodge, president of the Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council and on the Citizen’s Police Advisory Board. He was accepted and completed training to become a member of the fist ever team of LAPD’s HCOP (Harbor Citizens on Patrol) and was appointed commissioner by mayor Eric Garcetti to the Harbor Area Planning Commission. He leaves behind wife Nancy and children, Samantha, Karyn, Danielle, Evelyn, Robert, Anthony, Frank, Vincent, A.J., Michael and nephews Michael and Brett. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the I.L.W.U. Memorial Hall at 231 C St, Wilmington, CA 90744.
