James was born in San Pedro, California to Magdalena (Maggie) and Gerasimos (Gerry) Antonelos on March 13, 1971, and was a lifelong resident of San Pedro. James graduated from Mary Star High School in 1989, where he excelled in football, basketball and volleyball. He received an Associate’s Degree from Los Angeles Harbor College, and worked for Los Angeles Rec and Parks for many years. It was during this time that he realized how much he loved working with children, so much so, that he volunteered to coach many local youth in football and volleyball. James was a die hard USC and Pittsburgh Steeler fan, and attended many games throughout the years. He was an athlete by nature, and loved playing with his friends on many adult recreational basketball, softball and roller hockey teams.

He is survived by his daughters, Lauren and Mekayla Antonelos; parents, Maggie and Gerry Antonelos; sisters, Leticia (Pete) Page, and Anna Antonelos (Miguel Roa); Nephews, Peter and Nick Page (Nikolai), and Gabe Torres (Big Guy); niece, Alex Torres; aunts, Cruz Gonzalez, Mina (Paul) Russian, Theresa (Albert) Amundson; and numerous cousins.
