Joseph Rodrigues, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, took the hand of God and joined his eternal family at the age of 87, on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in his home with his family present. Born in San Pedro on May 18, 1930, the youngest of seven children to the late Pedro and Leopoldina Rodrigues. Joe was raised in a fisherman’s family. By the time he was 11 years old, he was fishing with his father and brothers aboard the San Joa and the Cal-Sea. After a tour of duty in the Army traveling to Japan during the Korean War, Joe returned to fishing aboard the Joan of Arc, and the Equator, then to the City of San Pedro. He shared his joys of fishing all through his life with his children, family and friends. The summer of ’54, Joe met his lifelong love, Agnes Voss on the White Cloud, a three masted sailing schooner during a CYO trip to Catalina Island. They married November 5, 1955 and raised six children together. In 1961, he began barbering. In 1967 he purchased Joes’ Barber Shop in San Pedro where he barbered with his brother George, niece Evelyn, and son David. He belonged to the San Pedro obedience training club for over 30 years and the California Brittany Club for 45 years. He has also enjoyed being a member of the Peck Park Seniors. Joe was preceded in death by his daughter Joann and his son Joseph. Joe will be lovingly remembered by Agnes, his wife of 62 years; children Linda Langford, Julie Hunley, David Rodrigues, and Amy Booth; as well as son in law Phil Booth. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Brianna, Ryan and David; sisters Mary Sychowski and Celeste Nix; and sister in law, Eleanor Rodrigues. Joe will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and dear friends. We would like to thank Kaiser Permanente doctors, nurses and hospice staff for their kind loving care. Please sign the guestbook at
